Beginners Class progresses

Our intrepid beginners are looking confident and pretty handy with a rotary cutter.

Here are a couple of images from last week's class.

Block Arranging Practice

At the Beginners Class, these club blocks were used to practice arrangements in pleasing configurations. Eventually, these will be finalised and sewn together. Any interested club member is welcome to take some home and play.  They can add feature blocks, sashing, borders or whatever they find adds appeal to the blocks. Otherwise you will see them from time to time on Friday nights.
Happy Sewing!

Queanbeyan Quilters Inc - Beginner Class 2014

The Beginners Class is going wonderfully, in three weeks they have covered Tools and Equipment in the first lesson, Colour, Palette and Fabric in the second lesson and then in the third class everyone got very excited cutting and sewing Blocks.

The Beginners are improving their knowledge giving them a solid foundation to start their quilting adventure.

There will be six lessons in all after which everyone will be ready to take it further with workshops and working from inspiring books, magazines and patterns.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Gifts of Fabric

Following two recent donations of lovely patchwork fabric, the club is gearing up to make lots of gift quilts or quilted items for a number of worthy causes. Anything from place mats, table runners, cot quilts right up to bed quilts can be expected. There was a nice collection of Christmas fabric; there are some bright I-spy fabrics for children's quilts. The magazines have already gone up to the club on Friday night and several members found good patterns for quilts in them. (The cat is an added extra, she has to know and be into everything that's going on.)

Finally finished, some quilts can take years to make.

Chris was very happy to put the final stitch in her binding last Friday night. This Stack 'n Whack quilt was started many years ago when Queanbeyan Quilters still met at the Guide Hall. Which was well before 2000. Now since everything that is old is new again, the quilt still seems fresh and perfectly pink. Hope the recipient really enjoys it. Kay's Quilts did a lovely job, as always, on the quilting.
